Apr 30, 2020 · UCF’s doctor of physical therapy program rose 44 spots in the most recent U.S. News and World Report rankings, ranking No. 57 in the nation. This puts UCF in the top 25% of all U.S. graduate physical therapy programs. The report is conducted every few years through a survey of program leaders across the nation. The UCF Doctor of Physical Therapy Program has been hosting the White Coat Ceremony since 2009. This ceremony marks the transition of our doctoral students from the didactic portion of the curriculum, which focuses on basic and clinical sciences, to the clinical portion, which emphasizes full-time internships and evidence-based practice. Physical therapy (PT) aides support physical therapists and physical therapy assistants in tasks related to the running of a clinic. PT aides are important physical therapy team members—and there's a growing need for these trained professionals. Additionally, PT aide jobs will gain 1,300 new openings by 2032.Formally established in 2018, the mission of the UCF Neuromuscular Plasticity Laboratory is to leverage the plasticity of the neuromuscular system – from the brain to the muscle – to test and develop interventions that enhance health and rehabilitation outcomes by preventing and minimizing skeletal muscle weakness across the lifespan.
